Love it! When I was at uni in the midlands, I loved that 'me duck' was a Coventry saying. Weirdly I was only telling Mr H that last night. Maybe it's a sign that I should purchase said mug...
Is it? How funny, must ask the Coventrian in my life about that one. I do know they say batch in Coventry for a bread roll...
Speaking as a Coventrian, I've never heard of 'me duck'. Maybe it's a north Coventry thing...
The batch thing is 100% true.
As a genuine 'it's bloody grim up north' person I think I can confirm that 'ay up me duck' is definitely more 'up north' than Coventry. Now I must get back to my reports. Elaine B
Sorry, just to clarify... The 'ay up' bit definitely wasn't a Coventry thing, but I was definitely called 'me duck' there a lot. It was the kind of thing our uni cleaners would say or ladies of a certain age in shops.
I'd forgotten about the batch thing.
In Sheffield they call it a bread cake!
'bread cake' - love it! Should compile a list of regional carbisms...
Want one!! SUCH a brilliant find. Possibly your best ever X
I was born in Nottingham and they DEFINITELY said ay up me duck there!
