This weekend just gone, we headed out to
Montauk, on the very tip of Long Island. 'The End' as Montauk is known is a small resort and fishing town east of the Hamptons, on the southern fork of the island. The town doesn't allow chains, so there's no Starbucks or Holiday Inns, but retro motels, independent petrol garages and diners, pancake houses and crab shacks galore. The season is officially over, and the Atlantic winds were whipping up a chill, but the sun was shining and we spent a blissful weekend walking on the beach, scoffing lobster rolls on the deck at
Duryea's and sitting by the harbour watching the boats.

Good to see you made it to the US Katy. We are both a long way from Bramley Road.
BTW there's a cafe with your name on it in Singapore - With a Pinch of Salt.
Enjoy your autumn in New York.
I have always wanted to know what Lobster Rolls are like. Good to hear that no large chains are allowed. Mind you in sunny Bexhill we don't have that problem as no large chains want to come here!
Oooh that looks fabulous. Very jealous
